NIH NIA MSTEM STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIPS:

We are requesting applications for interested undergraduate research assistants and graduate student mentors for our NIH aging-related research training and mentorship program.

 

For accepted applicants, research training and skills obtained from the NIH NIA MSTEM program may include, for example:

  • An ability to conduct research and be paid during the academic year and/or summer months; 

  • Opportunity to present their research work at scientific conferences locally, and nationally

  • Opportunity to be an author of peer-reviewed publication(s)

  • Outreach experience (e.g., activity for local K-12 students with a theme related to aging research; activity for seniors within the Department of Aging and Community Living)

GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION:

The CBRE Laboratory at the University of the District of Columbia is seeking a graduate student, preferably Ph.D. candidate but M.S students are welcome to apply, with a research interest in gait and balance (namely falls) in aging individuals.  The applicant must be a University of the District of Columbia student at the time of appointment.
 
This position will involve working within the CBRE Laboratory on a Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) sponsored project regarding the Safe at Home (SAH) falls prevention program.  The research assistant's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: conducting experiments and collecting data, analyzing data, and other tasks.  Tuition and stipend will be provided and renewal will be pending satisfactory performance and funding.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION:

The CBRE Laboratory at the University of the District of Columbia is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate with a research interest in gait and balance (namely falls) in aging individuals. 
 
This position will involve working within the CBRE Laboratory on a Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) sponsored project regarding the Safe at Home (SAH) falls prevention program.  The Postdoctoral Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting experiments and collecting data, analyzing data, developing models and identification algorithms, performing statistical analyses, preparing manuscripts and conference presentations, assisting the CBRE Lab PI to prepare project reports, and other tasks.  The position is full-time, for at least one year, with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and funding. Remuneration will be competitive and based on qualifications.
